Installation

How to start Sqritto.

On first start you see the library. Create a document from a template – its sample content is a good tour of what Sqritto can do.

Windows

  1. Download and run the installer. Sqritto is installed for your user account – no administrator rights needed – and appears in the Start menu.
  2. For the portable version, unpack the ZIP into a permanent folder and start Sqritto.exe.
  3. Your documents live in Documents\Sqritto, independent of the program folder.

If Windows SmartScreen warns you on first start, choose “More info” and “Run anyway” – the packages are not code-signed yet.

On older Windows 10 installations without WebView2, install the Evergreen Runtime from Microsoft.

macOS

  1. Unpack the archive into a folder of its own.
  2. Remove the quarantine flag – the program is not notarized yet, and macOS would otherwise block it.
  3. Start sqritto. Your documents live in Documents/Sqritto.

If the file is not in “Downloads”, adjust the path accordingly.

Linux

  1. Unpack the archive into a folder of its own. It contains a single program plus license files.
  2. Start sqritto – it opens the interface in your default browser. Your documents live in ~/Documents/Sqritto.
  3. For headless use, sqritto build and sqritto serve work without a desktop.

After installation

Updating is simple.

Install over the old version

Run the installer of a new version, or replace the program file of the portable package. Settings and documents are kept.

Documents stay where they are

Your workspace is a normal folder outside the program directory. Uninstalling Sqritto never touches it.

Same version everywhere

Use the same Sqritto version in CI and on your desk – the command-line build produces exactly what the app shows.

SHA-256 checksums

Use sha256sum (Linux), shasum -a 256 (macOS) or Get-FileHash (PowerShell) to check that a file arrived unchanged.
